Gurkan Sener (919-467-7345) - Mostly foreign or older automobiles. His shop is on the corner of Academy & Chatham (it used to be the old Shell station). He's very loyal to his customers, charges a fair price, and he really, really knows cars.

Triangle Home Solutions. Chuck Penfield at 919 795 8596. Excellent work and good prices on repairs and small additions. They were quite efficient about repairing rotten window sills, jambs, and other outside parts that were rotten.

Ted and his crew are careful about protecting the home and cleaning up. The cost may be a little higher than others but he uses higher quality varnish ($125/gallon) and puts down 4 coats (many put only 3).

Peter Wiest (919-762-8701) He is very organized, and is willing to schedule regular gutter-cleanings so that things are never an emergency at your house. You don't have to call him, which makes life easier - he calls first to make certain that it's OK with you, and then comes by. Will leave bill if you're not home.

Abormax (www.arbormaxtree.com). Tim Robbins at 919-412-6790. Best price I have seen on tree removal and stump grinding. They were timely and cleaned up adequately. They took out 7 trees and did some additional work for $1,000.
